Speakers

Dr Chris Hewer is a Visiting Lecturer in Christian - Muslim Studies at the al-Mahdi Institute. He was an Advisor on Inter-faith Relations to the Bishop of Birmingham and is an expert in Islamic Studies, Islamic Education and Hermeneutics. He will be speaking on: “A Muslim understanding of the relationship between God and the human being and humanity”.

Dr Erik Borgman is a Roman Catholic theologian and Full Professor for Systematic Theology at the University of Tilburg. He belongs to the lay order of the Dominicans and researches religion and contemporary culture. He will be speaking on: “Interfaith work and the religious obligation to promote human dignity and the challenging input of Vatican Two” and “Being Catholic by promoting debate: Beyond inclusivist and exclusivist identities”.

Revd Dr Nadim Nassar is the Director of the Trinity Foundation for Christianity and Culture. He worked with youth groups in Syria and Lebanon for ten years before spending five years in Germany. He was the Senior URC Chaplain to the Universities and Colleges in London before being ordained an Anglican priest. He will be speaking on “Three faiths: divergence and
convergence”.

Sr Frances Dominica is the Founder of Helen House, the world’s first children’s hospice, and of Douglas House, a ‘respice’ for young people aged 16-40 with life-shortening conditions.. She is a trained nurse and a Sister of All Saints Sisters of the Poor as well as the Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Oxfordshire and was awarded an OBE in 2006. She will be leading a reflection on the Conference.
